Reading Notes
These are my reading notes about some of my favorite economics books.
Inequality Reexamined, Amartya Sen 1992
Amartya Sen is a contemporary economist of Indian origin, a professor at Harvard and a winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics in 1998. In Inequality Reexamined, Amartya Sen revisits the foundations and the concepts of equality and inequality, which makes his book a rather theoretical work.
Pop Internationalism, Paul Krugman 1996
Pop Internationalism is a book written by Paul Krugman, an American economist, to sweep away the clichés about globalization, what he calls "pop culture". Pop Internationalism was written to be understood not only by the most experienced economists but also by the general public.
Three Lessons on the Welfare State, Bruno Palier 2008
« Trois leçons sur l’Etat-Providence » (Three Lessons on the Welfare State) summarises in three chapters the effect of the evolution of society on redistribution. The three chapters are: 1. Family and the revolution in the role of women, 2. Children and Equal Opportunities, 3. Ageing and Equity.
